Carbon Maps: Food industry carbon accounting startup secures new support

Carbon Maps has secured $7.6 million in funding following the startup’s seed round extension, making it a new player in the carbon accounting space.

The company has managed to convince Daphni to participate in the seed round, adding to the €4 million already raised from Breega and Samaipata.

Carbon Maps is focused on the environmental impact of the food industry, offering a software-as-a-service platform to help companies calculate their carbon footprint at a product-level.

The platform follows standardized recommendations from sources like GHG Protocol, IPCC, ISO 14040 and 14044, and takes into account carbon emissions under scopes 1, 2 and 3.

Clients can use the platform to get an eco-score, define objectives to reduce environmental impact, and compare and optimize their supply chain based on carbon impact.

Several clients, including Andros, Sodexo, Potel&Chabot, and the Bel milk producers’ association, are already using Carbon Maps’ tool, and upcoming French regulations will further propel the adoption of the eco-score rating system.
