Complete and inclusive asteroid nuclear deflection scenario simulation is presented in a paper by Mary Burkey and her team. According to them, detonating a nuclear explosive device is potentially the best method for deflecting an incoming object. However, proper precision is crucial to avoid unforeseen consequences, such as chunks of the asteroid hitting Earth, as depicted in the movie Armageddon. Their simulation method is effective and might be used for large-scale asteroid-nuking studies in the future.
