Samsung admits hackers accessed UK customer data

Samsung has confirmed a security breach that resulted in unauthorized access to the personal information of some UK-based customers. The breach, which lasted for a year, affected customers who made purchases at Samsung U.K.’s store between July 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020.

Names, phone numbers, postal addresses, and email addresses of the affected customers were accessed by hackers. However, no financial data or customer passwords were compromised. The company has reported the breach to the U.K.’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

This is the third data breach disclosed by Samsung in the past two years, following previous breaches in the U.S. and a breach in which hackers claimed to have obtained and leaked confidential data from the company’s systems.
