Telegram is updating its app to improve calls and save on battery life. The new design uses fewer resources and brings dynamic call backgrounds. The update also includes enhancements to the app’s bot platform and more. In addition to the redesigned calls and improved battery efficiency, the update brings new animations and better call quality. Telegram plans to launch more improvements in 2024.
The app is also rolling out updates to its bot platform, allowing developers to integrate services into the Telegram ecosystem. Bots can now react to messages, manage reactions, quotes, links, and more. They can also get information about giveaways and boosts in channels where they are admins.
Furthermore, Telegram is introducing its vaporize animation to both iOS and Android users, following successful testing with select users. This new effect plays whenever a message is deleted, adding a bit of fun to the app.
These new features come after Telegram’s recent improvements to channels, emoji customization for reactions, and story stats. The app continues to innovate in order to compete with WhatsApp, which launched its broadcast channels features to all users in September 2023.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that WhatsApp’s broadcast channel feature has surpassed 500 million monthly active users, while WhatsApp has over 2 billion monthly active users and Telegram boasts over 800 million monthly active users.
